VCT (vinyl composition tile) and similar hard-surface floors accumulate layers of old finish, scuff marks, embedded dirt and yellowing over time. Routine mopping does not remove built-up finish — it requires stripping the floor to the bare tile, then reapplying clean coats of commercial-grade floor finish.

The result is a floor that looks correct, protects the tile from wear, and is easier to maintain with routine mopping for the next 6–12 months before the cycle repeats.
Minnesota winters are hard on commercial floors. Road salt, sand and moisture tracked in from November through March abrade floor finish faster than any other period. Facilities along Highway 55 between Hastings and Farmington — particularly those with large parking lots and active loading areas — typically need a mid-season touch-up strip or at minimum a scrub-and-recoat by February. We build this into annual maintenance schedules for clients who want predictable results rather than emergency calls in March when the floor looks visibly damaged.
Floor stripping requires after-hours access and adequate drying time — typically 6–8 hours after the final coat before foot traffic resumes. We schedule stripping overnight or on weekends to minimize disruption. For large facilities, we section the work across multiple nights.
Floor stripping can be added to an existing nightly janitorial contract or scheduled as a standalone service.
